Police investigates - Horse discovered with deep cuts

A horse trainer found her horse with numerous lacerations in Red in the district of Biberach (Landkreis Biberach). The assessments by veterinarians suggest that the injuries were deliberately inflicted on the nine-year-old mare, said a police spokesperson. Among other things, tendons had been cut. The police are now investigating.

Exactly how the injuries were inflicted on the horse during the night on Thursday is still unclear. The horse was in a so-called paddock – a small free-range enclosure – with other horses. The other horses had no injuries. Witnesses are asked to contact the police.

The horse trainer expressed concerns about the increase in such cut injuries in the Baden-Württemberg region. The local authorities have expressed concern about the rise in criminality towards animals, urging tighter regulations and penalties. Following the incident, the police in Biberach have stepped up their patrols around horse stables and paddocks to prevent further incidents.
