Honduras protests against Israel by withdrawing its ambassador
In light of the war between Israel and Hamas, another Latin American country, Honduras, has recalled its ambassador from Israel. The Honduran government has summoned Ambassador Roberto Martínez from Israel for "consultations" in view of the "grave humanitarian situation" of the Palestinian civilian population in the Gaza Strip, explained Foreign Minister Enrique Reina on the online network X (formerly Twitter).
In recent days, Chile and Colombia had already withdrawn their ambassadors to protest against Israel's military response to the attack by the radical Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas. Bolivia even severed its diplomatic relations with Israel on Tuesday.
Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, killed at least 1,400 people and deported at least 240 people to the Gaza Strip in an unprecedented large-scale attack on Israel on October 7, according to Israeli figures.
