Hollywood reacts to Biden's withdrawal

Actors in Hollywood express concern over Biden's presidential fitness following TV debate with Trump

Following the TV debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, doubts about the Democratic president's physical and mental fitness have arisen among the Democrats. Panic is spreading among the Democrats, with Hollywood actors calling for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race. In response to Biden's decision, acknowledging words have followed.

Barbra Streisand, a supporter of the Democrats, wrote on the X network, thanking Biden for "preserving our democracy." During Biden's presidency, she noted, he had accomplished significant things. While Biden's presidency was praised in many reactions, others expressed concerns about the future.

Singer Cher wrote on X, feeling frustrated that she didn't believe the Democrats could win without Biden. She urged unconventional thinking and suggested a split candidacy.

Singer-actress Sheryl Lee Ralph posted a joint photo with Vice President Kamala Harris and wrote, "Biden spoke to me about being a presidential candidate."

Mark Hamill, famous for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars series, stated that Biden's record of achievement as a president would not be matched by any president "in our lifetimes." "He has given the office after four years of lies, crimes, scandals, and chaos back its honesty, decency, and integrity," Hamill said. "It is now the duty of patriotic Americans to vote for the Democrats, to honor Biden's legacy, and to carry it forward."

Actor George Takei stated that Biden had served the country admirably for decades and was a very successful president. Now, he urged, it was time to rally behind Harris and defeat Trump in November.

Hollywood showed "great concern"

In the past few weeks, major Hollywood names have been urging Biden to withdraw from the presidential race. Actor George Clooney, who has supported the Democratic Party for many years, made this call in an opinion piece for the "New York Times."

"I love Joe Biden," Clooney wrote in the piece. He considered the US president a friend and believed in him. "The one fight he cannot win is the one against time," Clooney continued. "Leading Democrats, senators, representatives, and other candidates who could lose in November should ask this president to retire voluntarily."

Actress Ashley Judd also joined in, urging Biden to withdraw from the presidential race in an opinion piece published by "USA Today." Judd wrote that the 81-year-old should "retire voluntarily and with dignity" and make way for a "talented and strong candidate."

Actor Michael Douglas also expressed "great concern" over Biden's condition following Clooney's appeal for the president to withdraw from the race in the fall. Douglas then spoke out on the talk show "The View."

In light of the concerns raised about Biden's fitness, George Clooney, a long-time supporter of the Democratic Party, penned an opinion piece in the New York Times, urging Biden to step down for the sake of the party and the upcoming U.S. Presidential Election 2024. This call was echoed by actress Ashley Judd, who published an opinion piece in USA Today, suggesting that Biden retire voluntarily to make way for a younger, more capable candidate. Similar sentiments were expressed by actor Michael Douglas on the talk show "The View".
