A police officer is suspected of giving the Hitler salute at a party on Burg Hohenstein (Saxon Switzerland). The investigation against the currently unknown officer was announced by the Dresden Police Department.
It became known that several police officers in civilian clothes had celebrated at Burg Hohnstein (Saxon Switzerland) on the night of Friday. While they were reportedly heavily intoxicated, they allegedly played the song "L'Amour Toujours” by Gigi D’Agostino. One officer is said to have danced to the music and given the Hitler salute.
Apart from opening a criminal investigation, the Dresden Police are also checking for disciplinary measures, it was stated. Dresden Police President Lutz Rodig said: "I take these allegations very seriously. The behavior of the present police officers has greatly disappointed me and caused damage to the reputation of the police." They had particularly betrayed trust.
The alleged incident occurred in Saxon Switzerland, specifically at Burg Hohenstein, which is located in the region of Saxony. The Dresden Police Department is working in collaboration with Saxony's state police to thoroughly investigate the case of the police officer giving the Hitler salute. After the incident, Hohenstein, a popular tourist destination in Saxon Switzerland, has been subject to widespread criticism.
