Middle East - Hezbollah fires around 200 rockets at northern Israel

In response to the killing of a high-ranking commander, Hezbollah in Lebanon reportedly fired over 200 rockets into northern Israel and shot down more than 20 drones on various Israeli targets. The Israeli army confirmed this, identifying approximately 200 projectiles and over 20 drones that had penetrated Israeli territory. The military retaliated by striking the launch sites in Lebanon.

The Israeli army also stated that some of the projectiles had been intercepted. In various regions, fires broke out due to falling rocket shrapnel and drone debris. Sirens were wailing in the northern part of the country.

The Lebanese news agency NNA reported that a person was killed and a woman was injured in an Israeli attack in Hula in the South Lebanon.

Hezbollah confirmed the death of one of their members. The man was reportedly from Hula. The militia did not provide further details about how, where, or when the fighter was killed.

The Israeli military stated that they had targeted "Hezbollah military buildings" in Hula, among other places, from the air.

According to Israeli reports, they had killed a high-ranking Hezbollah commander in Lebanon on Wednesday. Israel and the Lebanese Shia militia Hezbollah have been engaging in near-daily clashes since the start of the Gaza War, with the intensity of the fighting increasing significantly. There have been casualties on both sides. It is feared that the conflict could spread to the region.

Israel demands that Hezbollah withdraws to the 30-kilometer buffer zone along the border, as stipulated in a UN resolution. The Iran-backed militia, however, insists on ceasing their rocket fire only when there is a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
