Hezbollah armed forces issue warnings of extensive attacks on Israel.
The Hisbollah militia, supported by Iran, has issued warnings of extensive assaults on Israel should hostilities ensue. In a televised address, Hisbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah declared, "We've prepared ourselves for the worst, and nowhere will be safe from our rockets." This statement implied potential bombardments from land, air, and sea towards Israel.
Nasrallah further cautioned Cyprus against enabling Israel's military to utilize its airports and bases during a potential conflict. Stating, "If Cypriot airports and bases offer support to Israel for an assault against Lebanon, the Cypriot government will become part of the war."
In response to months of border skirmishes, the Israeli military has sanctioned a deployment strategy for a potential offensive in Lebanon on Tuesday. Key military figures have "approved and authorized" the operation in Lebanon subsequent to a joint review at the Northern Command, as reported by the army. Troop preparedness will be further heightened in preparation for this move. Prior to this decision, a video surfaced online, apparently depicting drone footage of essential military and energy installations in northern Israel's Haifa, attributed to Hisbollah. Subsequently, Israel's Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, threatened to eliminate Hisbollah in a full-scale war.
Katz's office stated on Tuesday, "We're almost at the point of deciding to alter the rules of engagement against Hisbollah and Lebanon." They proceeded to assert, "In a comprehensive war, Hisbollah will perish, and Lebanon will sustain significant damages."
Since the initiation of conflict between Israel and the radical Islamic Hamas more than eight months ago, Hisbollah—backed by Iran and aided by Hamas—has launched rockets and drones towards Israel. Thousands of people have been displaced from their homes since then due to the relentless barrage. Israel has reciprocated with strikes against Hisbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon.
