Herford Brand: Police are looking for a Suspect

For the investigators it is clear: The fire in a Herford bar on Sunday was deliberately set. However, since then there has been no trace of a seriously suspected man. Now the police are turning to the public.

In the case of the alleged arson in a bar in Herford, a wanted man is now being publicly sought a few days after the fire. The intensive investigations of the homicide commission regarding the whereabouts of the man have so far been unsuccessful, as stated by the Prosecutor's Office and the Police in Bielefeld.

Therefore, the man wanted in connection with this case is now being sought publicly. The investigators have released two photos of him. The man is 1.79 meters tall and was last seen wearing a black pair of pants and a black hoodie.

The fire in the bar in the eastern Westphalian city on the previous Sunday was deliberately set, as determined by fire scene investigations by experts, including the use of a tracking dog. Evidence was secured, a safe was secured - details about this are not mentioned yet.

Witnesses reported at least one explosion before the building went up in flames. The suspected man came into focus of the investigators some hours after the fire. A search of an apartment by police special unit officers did not find the suspect. The police in Bielefeld are accepting tips on the wanted person, under the phone number: 0521-545-4623.

The wanted individual, suspected of involvement in the deliberate arson of the Herford bar, is believed to have fled internationally. Despite intensive efforts by the police and the prosecutor's office, there have been no confirmed sightings of him within North Rhine-Westphalia.
