Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is dead. The Nobel Peace Prize winner and diplomat with German roots died in Connecticut at the age of 100.
The German-born former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is dead. Kissinger, a "distinguished American scholar and statesman", died on Wednesday at his home in the US state of Connecticut, according to his consulting firm Kissinger Associates. The former Secretary of State was 100 years old.
Kissinger was Secretary of State of the United States from 1973 to 1977. In 1973, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize together with the North Vietnamese chief negotiator Le Duc Tho for a ceasefire agreement in the Vietnam War.
Kissinger will be buried at a private ceremony with his family, it was reported. A memorial service will be held in New York at a later date.
