The Berlin Fire Department sought help from volunteer firefighters due to the warnings issued by the German Weather Service (DWD) about potential severe weather in Berlin and its surrounding areas, including Brandenburg. Despite the DWD's forecast of heavy rain, gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour, and hail up to two centimeters in diameter, some residents in Potsdam ventured out, neglecting the advisory to stay indoors. The weather conditions during the thunderstorm were reminiscent of those in Berlin, causing distress for the Potsdam fire department as well.
