Strong rain - Heavy rain in Rastatt - Trees on vehicles

Storm and heavy rain caused flooding in Rastatt and brought down trees. In the Rastatt district, there were nearly 100 reports of flooding due to the rain, said a spokesperson for the Offenburg Police Headquarters. "Patrols were stopped because the rain was so strong that hardly anyone could drive anymore," he reported. Several trees had fallen on cars and trucks. "That must have been quite something in the Rastatt area," he said.

A police spokeswoman told SWR that the official severe weather warning had only reached the Police after the storm had passed. Although it could be seen on weather apps that it was coming, "no one had calculated that it would be this severe." Due to the sudden heavy rain, streets in the city area were flooded, cellars and sewers were filled. So far, there were no injuries reported. However, significant damage was expected.

The flooding in Rastatt was also reported in the nearby city of Offenburg. The weather in Baden-Württemberg has been particularly unhearty, with Rastatt District experiencing a high number of flooding incidents due to the persistent rain. The fallen trees in Rastatt caused disruptions, blocking several vehicles on the roads. The Rastatt District Police were actively managing the situation, directing traffic around the affected areas.
