Heavier rainfall leads to increased pressure in flooded regions.

Massive water quantities in southern Germany aren't draining yet due to predicted rainfall. In Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, the scenarios are perilous. Multiple individuals can be saved, yet there's no report of life from a rescuer.

The flood crisis intensifies in some Baden-Württemberg regions - and continues dangerously in specific Bavarian areas. Throughout the night to Monday, distinct flooding in Ebersbach an der Fils, a town near Stuttgart, posed risk to several people per an evaluation by the district office. A residential area was struck, prompting an extraordinary operation, per the district office's morning announcement. The state of Bavaria's scenarios also worsened at night in Günzburg and Donau-Ries areas, with various locations being cleared. Early into the week, substantial thunderstorms and persistent rainfall are anticipated.

On Monday, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz is scheduled to reach flood-stricken areas. He'll travel to Reichertshofen with Interior Minister Nancy Faeser. Multiple communities, including Markt in Upper Bavaria, experienced showers over the weekend, inundating their regions. Frequent rainfall overflowed rivers and streams across the region, prompting several communities to declare disaster situations, with at least one death.

Flooding in Rems-Murr-District, Baden-Württemberg

Heavy weather sparked flooding in the Rems-Murr-District within Baden-Württemberg on Sunday night. The police declared that Rudersberg's landscape was underwater as they reported at the beginning of Monday. Residents were trapped inside their dwellings, while the fire department evacuated them. The situation was still hazy.

In the Ostalbkreis district of Baden-Württemberg, inhabitants were evacuated from their homes in parts of Leinzell, Heuchlingen, and Göggingen overnight due to potential flooding. The whole community of Täferrot is expected to be relocated. Water inundation was already reaching Täferrot by Monday morning. Two retention basins in the area had reached their limit - they released water under control. Nearly 250 to 300 people were moved to secure locations.

Danube floods decreasing in Bavaria

Swelling floodwaters in Bavaria's Danube tributaries have begun to subside, per the Bavarian Flood Information Service. Most peak levels have been reached, as relayed in the night to Monday in the state report. Now, the flood's focus falls more on the Danube itself. Oncoming rain showers could lengthen the decrease.

The German Meteorology Service (DWD) eradicated all alerts for severe storms with heavy rain in Germany during the night to Monday. Nevertheless, regional showers carrying heavy rainfall still persist in South Germany because the DWD revealed early Monday afternoon. Regions south of the Danube and the Bavarian Forest will be struck. Small-scale thunderstorms are anticipated as well.

Until evening, these showers may propagate toward the Upper Rhine and northern Alpine foothills. The evening might feature intense storms with heavy rains in the Alps. Eastern Germany is expected to have thundery rains, with 15 to 25 liters of rainfall per square meter within a short period per the DWD. Locally, Downpours with up to 30 liters per square meter are conceivable.

Limited train traffic

Due to weather-related harm, train traffic in southern Germany is significantly hampered. The German Railways (DB) informed during the night: "We dissuade visiting the affected flood regions in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg and suggest deferring unnecessary trips. Please also bear in mind that the trains operational may have high passenger occupancy."

Long-distance traffic from the north and west can't reach Munich at the moment, while local traffic in Bavaria is heavily impaired. Accommodation venues have been established in Stuttgart, Nuremberg, and Munich for travelers.

The missing firefighter in Swabian Offingen still hasn't been discovered. "The search will carry on," shared a police spokesperson in the morning. Details weren't offered initially. A 22-year-old fireman was spearheading to Swabian Offingen in Günzburg with a boat from the DLRG water rescue on the night from Sunday to Monday. The vessel, executed by five rescue workers aged 24 to 70, collapsed at 2.50 a.m. due to robust currents. Four rescuers between 24 and 70 successfully extricated themselves from the water and stayed safe. After the 22-year-old, rescuers, including the voluntary fire department, the DLRG water rescue, water police, military, and police, searched.
