The conclusion of the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia is revealing a tragic toll, with at least 90 individuals reported dead as a result of excruciating heat in Mecca. The death toll is still climbing.

TAP, Tunisia's state news agency, announced on a Wednesday that at least 35 Tunisian pilgrims lost their lives. Tasnim, the Iranian news agency, reported that 11 Iranian citizens also perished. Senegal confirmed three of its citizens died during the pilgrimage, while the Jordanian Foreign Ministry had previously confirmed the deaths of 41 Jordanian pilgrims.

Allegations of hundreds of Egyptian fatalities could not be verified initially. Saudi authorities remained silent, and official figures on the total number of casualties were not disclosed on a Wednesday. The death count is expected to increase further.

The pilgrimage commenced in Mecca on a Friday evening under intense heat. It concluded on a Tuesday, but some pilgrims completed their rituals on a Wednesday. In Mecca and nearby holy sites, temperatures hovered around 50 degrees Celsius. Authorities advised believers to carry umbrellas, stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, and hydrate adequately.
