District Augsburg - Health office lifts decortication order

Citizens in the northern Landkreis Augsburg can breathe a sigh of relief. The State Health Office at the Landratsamt Augsburg has lifted the boil water order for the drinking water that was imposed in June. The order affected the municipalities of Allmannshofen, Druisheim, Ehingen, Ellgau, Kühlenthal, Nordendorf, Ostendorf, Waltershofen, and Westendorf, and was implemented to protect the health of approximately 9000 residents.

Landrat Martin Sailer (CSU) confirmed that the latest investigation results in the water supply area of the Wasserzweckverband Schmuttergruppe show no anomalies anymore. "The guarantee of supplying clean drinking water has been restored," said Sailer. Citizens no longer have to boil their water.

The original boil water order was issued after bacteria were discovered in the drinking water. The cause of contamination remained unclear initially, and a connection to the latest flood was not ruled out.

  1. The residents of Ehingen, located within the District Augsburg in Swabia, Bavaria, can now consume their water without boiling, as the District Office announced the lifting of the boil water order.
