Head of ChatGPT inventor OpenAI has to go

The development company behind the popular chatbot ChatGPT has undergone a surprising change of leadership. The board of directors of OpenAI has withdrawn its confidence in co-founder and company director Sam Altman.

According to a statement, Altman had not been honest in his communication with the board. Altman was the public face of OpenAI and was in the spotlight at the company's first developer conference just a few days ago.

Head of Technology Mira Murati will take over as CEO for the time being, while a permanent successor is to be found.

The chatbot ChatGPT can formulate sentences at the linguistic level of a human. Its release around a year ago triggered a hype around artificial intelligence. OpenAI thus became a pioneer in the technology. Microsoft entered into a multi-billion euro pact with the company to incorporate its technology into the Group's products.

Amidst this leadership shift at OpenAI, the company's relationship with Microsoft and the integration of ChatGPT's technology into Microsoft's products remain unaffected. Despite the change, the computer-generated conversations on the Internet, facilitated by ChatGPT, continue to fuel the interest in artificial intelligence.
