Hasebe becomes youth coach at Eintracht

After his career ended, it was clear that Hasebe would stay with Eintracht Frankfurt. Now, the Japanese player changes sides and will sit on the bench for the youth team.

Eintracht Frankfurt - Hasebe becomes youth coach at Eintracht

Makoto Hasebe will start his coaching career after retiring from Eintracht Frankfurt's Bundesliga team. According to the Hessians, the 40-year-old Japanese will strengthen the U21 training team of Frankfurt from September 1st.

"I'm of course looking forward to the new challenge and am very grateful to Eintracht for giving me this opportunity. I'm also extremely happy to continue working in this club", said Hasebe. After 23 years of professional football, he wants to gather as many experiences as possible in his new position and develop further step by step.

Hasebe, who ended his professional football career with Eintracht after 304 matches at the end of the last season, will work alongside Arber Mustafa and Dennis Merten as co-trainers for Dennis Schmitt. For Hasebe, it is the first trainer position. However, the former defensive player already gained experience in various youth projects.

In the youth sector, the 114-time Japanese national team player intends to bring in his experience from nearly 700 professional matches. "We are very, very proud to have won Makoto as a coach for our NLZ. He has shown great interest in starting his trainer career in the Eintracht Frankfurt youth sector. We are sure that our kids can maximally benefit from his great experience", said Alexander Richter, head of the youth development center.
