Harris praises Biden in the highest tones

Joe Biden steps down from US presidential race, Kamala Harris could take over. At a reception at the White House, US Vice President Kamala Harris pays tribute to her boss' legacy. Biden has "unmatched" record.

At her first appearance since Joe Biden's withdrawal from the US presidential race, Vice President and potential successor Kamala Harris praised her boss' accomplishments as "unmatched." She could testify firsthand to how the 81-year-old had fought "every day for the American people," and she was deeply grateful "for his service to our nation." Biden stood out for his honesty, integrity, his standing up for faith, and his family, his big heart, and "his deep love, his profound love for our country."

The 59-year-old received the winning teams of the College Basketball Season 2023-2024 on behalf of Biden, who had retreated to his private house in Rehoboth, Delaware, due to a Coronavirus infection. Biden wished he could be there himself, Harris said. He was doing much better and recovering quickly, and looked forward to going out again soon.

Biden had announced on Sunday that he would not seek re-election for a second term on November 5, and had suggested Harris as a potential replacement. The 59-year-old Harris had already been considered a likely alternative for the November 5 election after Biden's disastrous TV debate performance against Trump.

On Sunday, Harris declared that she wanted to "earn and win" the nomination. The presidential candidate is chosen by the delegates of the Democratic Party Convention, which takes place in Chicago from August 19-22. The basis for the delegates' vote are usually the results of the primaries, which Biden had won overwhelmingly. With his withdrawal, the nearly 3900 delegates appointed based on the primaries are now completely free in their decision.

In light of Joe Biden's announcement to not seek re-election for the United States Presidency Election 2024, Kamala Harris expressed her appreciation for his "unmatched" contributions and highlighted his dedication to serving the American people. Should Biden not be a candidate, Kamala Harris, as the potential successor, could make history as the first female President of the United States in 2024.
