Democrats' internal vote has ended, Kamala Harris has full support.

- Harris gets 99 percent of the vote.

Kamala Harris is set to enter the November presidential election with full support from the Democratic Party following the conclusion of its internal vote. She received 99 percent of the approximately 4,500 delegate votes cast, the party announced. Harris had already surpassed the threshold for the necessary majority to secure the nomination on Friday. She was the only candidate in the digital vote, and her nomination now needs to be formally confirmed by the party's leadership.

The Democratic National Convention in Chicago is scheduled for August 19-22. The presidential nomination process was originally meant to take place there, but the party moved it up due to deadlines for printing ballots in some states. Delegates from all states were able to cast their votes on an online platform starting Thursday. Although Harris reached the majority shortly after, the voting continued until Monday evening (local time; midnight in Germany).

Harris emerged as the Democratic frontrunner in a dramatic turn of events after U.S. President Joe Biden withdrew from the campaign. The 81-year-old faced pressure from within his own party due to his age and questions about his mental fitness, ultimately announcing his withdrawal from the presidential race. Biden immediately endorsed his vice president as his replacement, and the party quickly rallied behind her. Harris will face off against former Republican President Donald Trump in the November election.

During the accelerated presidential nomination process, Kamala Harris conducted an intense election campaign to secure the Democratic Party's support. After securing a majority of votes, her nomination will be formally confirmed by the party's leadership ahead of the Democratic National Convention in August.
