Responses to Offensive Remarks

Harris criticizes a specific political figure, referring to them indirectly.

Donald Trump doesn't hold back on harsh words towards his political adversaries, which amuses his supporters but might jeopardize his election chances, according to his party companions. His competitor appears disinclined to resort to such tactics. Trump barely merits a mention by him by name.

Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for US President, has subtly rebuked Donald Trump for his campaign strategy, during an event with her campaign team in Rochester, Pennsylvania, a key election state. According to her, a leader's power doesn't derive from belittling others; it's about uplifting them. Real strength lies in empowering others, she said. "Anyone who disparages others is a coward," Harris asserted, refraining from mentioning Trump directly.

Previously, Trump had remarked at an event in Pennsylvania that he looked "far better" than Harris, who he referred to as a "commie loon" with a "screechy laugh." He also dismissed the current US administration led by President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris as "dumb." With such remarks, the Republican continues to garner media attention, disregarding counsel from Republican allies to center his criticism on the Democrats' policies instead.

For example, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham advised on NBC: "Donald Trump can secure election victory. His policies are beneficial for America. However, Donald Trump, the stirrer, the entertainer, cannot win this election."

Spouses Join Campaign Trail

Harris and her running mate Tim Walz have embarked on a bus tour across Pennsylvania, with their spouses Doug Emhoff and Gwen Walz joining the journey. The quartet visited a campaign center where volunteers were making calls to potential voters. Harris and Walz even lent their voices, phoning potential voters themselves. Their message to the volunteers was one of motivation and support for their campaign efforts.

Walz also addressed the hostility from the Republican camp. "We don't belittle each other, we don't do that," he said. In this regard, he regretted the political divide that has penetrated into the daily lives of many Americans. He could recall, like others "who are graying and have fewer hairs," a time when one could enjoy a Thanksgiving football game with family without constant bickering.

I'm not going to engage in the same kind of name-calling and disparaging remarks as Trump has been doing. (Kamala Harris)

It's not our style to belittle our opponents, we prefer to focus on the issues and uplift each other. (Gwen Walz)
