Harris apparently had conversations with three men.

The announcement of Kamala Harris's vice-presidential candidate is eagerly awaited. There are six candidates in the running, but according to media reports, three seem to be in the final selection. However, a certain Democrat appears to have the greatest chance of securing the position.

Just before announcing her running mate for the November election, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris reportedly met with potential candidates. According to the "New York Times" and other US media, the 59-year-old held discussions over the weekend in Washington with Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona, Governor Tim Walz from Minnesota, and Governor Josh Shapiro from Pennsylvania.

In addition to Shapiro, Kelly, and Walz, chances are also given to three other men: Governor J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

The Democrat secured her party's presidential nomination on Friday. In an online vote of the Democrats for the nomination for the presidential election, Harris already received the necessary majority of delegate votes well before the end of the vote. The vote runs out on Tuesday night. By then, Harris is expected to wait with the announcement of her vice-presidential decision. The exact time of the announcement is still open.

The first joint appearance of Harris and her running mate is expected on Tuesday evening (local time) in Philadelphia in the swing state of Pennsylvania. Afterwards, the duo plans to travel through the seven most contested states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada. In these so-called swing states, it is not yet clear in advance which candidate, the Republican or the Democrat, will win.

Shapiro will definitely be there

Pennsylvania, with its 20 electoral votes, is the most important swing state. Shapiro is also given great chances to become Harris's running mate because, as governor of Pennsylvania since 2023, he will definitely be present at the rally in Philadelphia. Before that, Shapiro served as attorney general in that state.

He is relatively new to the national political stage. Shapiro is considered rather moderate and very popular. He has been discussed for higher offices for some time. However, left-wing forces in the party find him too conservative on important issues.

Selecting a so-called running mate in the US election campaign is typically a complex and time-consuming process, but it now has to happen at breakneck speed. This is because Harris entered the presidential race at very short notice after US President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and will run against Trump in the election on November 5.

Despite the time constraints, it's worth noting that I'm not going to reveal the exact decision of Kamala Harris just yet. Regardless, it's understood that Shapiro will definitely not be ruling out the possibility of serving as her running mate.
