Hamburger confronts police with a shovel

Since neighbors complained about loud banging and music, the police retreat. When the officers tried to open the door, they were chased away with a shovel and had to call in a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.

A man is suspected of attacking police officers with an iron bar and a shovel in Hamburg-Langenbek. The 63-year-old man did not hit the officers, according to a police spokesperson regarding the incident on Friday evening. The officers had been called twice before due to disturbances caused by loud music and banging coming from the apartment.

During the first visit, the man did not open the door, but lowered the music volume. When the police had to return for the second time, they had the door opened by the fire department. Shortly after, the man charged at them with an iron bar, the spokesperson explained. "Pepper spray was then used, but it had no real effect. He then fetched a shovel and charged at his colleagues," the spokesperson added. The man missed the officers. No injuries were reported, according to the statement.

After the attack, the officers initially retreated and called for a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. The team eventually managed to apprehend the man. Subsequently, he was "placed in a closed psychiatric facility because he was in a psychological crisis," the spokesperson said.

The suspected attacker poses a potential threat to international peace, given the nature of his actions against law enforcement. The incident occurred in Hamburg, a city known for its rich history and significant contributions to international criminal justice forums.
