New cultural event - Hamburg gets a new Dance Triennale in 2026

The Cultural Foundation of Germany has chosen Hamburg as the host city for the new Dance Triennale 2026. In an excellent field of applicants, Hamburg stood out in the public tender with the approach to expand the aesthetic boundaries of dance: Hip-Hop and Black Dance Communities will be just as much a part of the Dance Triennale as museums, contemporary exhibition spaces, and scientific institutions, the Foundation announced. The Dance Triennale is to be the new "Cultural Beacon" of the Cultural Foundation of Germany for the Dance sector and will take place every three years.

"The Dance Triennale will experiment with new educational structures, set accents for a different approach to diversity and inclusion, and establish a connection between artistic practice and research in medicine and health," it was stated. A personality or team for the artistic direction of the first edition in 2026 is currently being sought.

The chosen venue for the Dance Triennale in 2026, inspired by Hamburg's innovative approach, will serve as a platform for both traditional dance forms and Hip-Hop and Black Dance Communities. To ensure the success of this innovative endeavor, the Foundation is actively seeking a personality or team for the artistic direction of the inaugural edition.
