Hamas expresses willingness to adopt UN mandate for truce.

The United Nations Security Council has reached a conclusion on a resolution suggesting that Israel and Hamas can attain a long-term truce in the Gaza Strip via a three-phase proposal put forward by US President Biden. Hamas shows signs of readiness to engage in talks pertaining to the specifics of the plan.

In an interview with news agency Reuters, Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri shared his organization's readiness to adopt the UN mandate for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, calling for deliberation on the details. Staying consistent with the plan, Hamas would accept arrangements for a ceasefire, disengagement of Israeli forces, and the exchange of hostages between Palestinians detained in Israel and Israeli captives.

Under this plan, the onus will fall on the United States to maintain Israel's compliance with the accord. According to Abu Zuhri, the US government is up against a challenge that requires Israel to promptly halt the war and execute the United Nations Security Council resolution.

The resolution embraces Biden's three-tiered strategy for a truce, which he publicized on May 31, classifying it as an Israeli initiative. Israel's acceptance of this plan is indicated in the text. Both Israel and Hamas are prompted to swiftly and unwaveringly implement the conditions.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken appears hopeful, perceiving positive signs from Hamas regarding the UN decree. Hamas has the final say on whether or not to proceed with Biden's proposal, Blinken stated, as he tours the Middle East in pursuit of an end to the warfare and levelling off the conflict.
