In the battle against police misconduct within the nation, Haiti's fresh Prime Minister Garry Conille has swapped out the head of the national police force. "We've opted for a switch-up at the helm of the police due to our belief that it was past time to infuse fresh impetus and vitality into this institution," Conille stated in a press briefing. The impending police chief in this Caribbean nation is said to be Rameau Normil.

Engaging the public in the "rebuilding of security" process is necessary, according to Conille. He also guaranteed enhanced dialogue between residents and law enforcement. Moreover, he declared the launch of a national program aimed at curbing corruption.

Haiti has been embroiled in chaos for years, with organized crime being merely one of the culprits, alongside political instability and financial strain. The turmoil intensified at the conclusion of February during a foreign excursion by the temporary government leader Ariel Henry. Criminal groups stormed police precincts and liberated countless inmates. They clamored for Henry's resignation, as his term had expired in early February.

Eventually, Henry announced his resignation in mid-March and surrendered administrative responsibilities to a transitional council, until Conille was designated interim prime minister at the end of May.

The surge of organized crime in the Caribbean state has led UN estimates to suggest that approximately 580,000 inhabitants have migrated from the ten-million-populated country since March. This figure represents a 60% surge.

Under the leadership of the new Chief, Rameau Normil, the national police force is expected to tackle corruption and improve its relationship with the community. The heightened gang violence in Haiti has led to a significant increase in the number of people leaving the country, with UN estimates suggesting that nearly 60% of the population has migrated since March.
