The suspect abandoned the weapon and fled in a vehicle, according to these sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Donald Trump Jr. subsequently tweeted about an AK-47 found in the bushes.
Martin County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of the suspect. The individual was apprehended on a nearby highway approximately 70 kilometers north of the golf club, according to the sheriff's office's Facebook page. This person is believed to be connected to the shooting incident. Initially, it was reported that two individuals were exchanging gunfire, not targeting Trump directly.
