Grand Theft Auto 6 release is still pending.
Grand Theft Auto 5, known for its immense success, has had fans waiting for the next installment for over ten years now since its release. Recently, new information about the sixth installment has surfaced.
The anticipation for the next game in the esteemed "Grand Theft Auto" series unraveled slightly more with Take-Two Interactive's recent announcement - the next release will occur in fall 2025. Previously, they had merely spoken of the year 2025. This little piece of news left both fans and investors slightly disappointed, resulting in a two percent dip in the company's share price after the announcement.
At present, only a one-and-a-half-minute teaser for the game is available, which was released back in December. The game is set in a fictitious version of the bustling American metropolis, Miami. The trailer showcases insane car rides, high-speed motorboating, beaches, weapons, crocodiles, and a myriad of characters, including a highlighted individual named Lucia. The previous version, "Grand Theft Auto V," came into the market back in 2013. Alongside the release date news, Take-Two also mentioned that this game has been purchased 200 million times.
The gaming site "Kotaku" revealed late in March that the developers needed more time, which led to the fall 2025 release date, a departure from the original intention of launching at the year's beginning. Rumors also suggested a potential delay until 2026 at Rockstar, the developer company. Consequently, in the past quarter, Take-Two witnessed a three percent decrease in revenue, standing at $1.4 billion. After a loss of $730 million the year earlier, this time around, the company lost $2.7 billion after a $1 billion write-off.
