Online network for global communication - Google launches AI-powered note-taking app in Germany.

Google has launched its AI-powered research assistant, "NotebookLM," for people in more than 200 countries but not the US. It resembles ChatGPT from OpenAI or Copilot from Microsoft, but it uses only the data provided by users for training. Google claims that "NotebookLM" operates as a self-contained system, examining only the materials submitted and not accessing the internet for more information.

Users of "NotebookLM" can submit various file types as sources, including text files, PDF documents, and Google Docs. Recently, additional support has been added for presentations (Google Slides) and website links that can be used as sources.

Google unveiled "NotebookLM" a year ago at its developer conference I/O as a "virtual scientific assistant that can clarify complex concepts and make new connections." Since then, the application has been enlarged in various ways. Currently, "NotebookLM" can handle up to 25 million words in each notebook and allows users to create up to 100 notebooks. When it first came out, "NotebookLM" only supported English; however, it now caters to 100 different languages, including German.

Despite Google's AI-powered note-taking app "NotebookLM" being available in over 200 countries, it remains unavailable in the USA. This situation has led some to question the app's potential impact in the global market, particularly in regions heavily influenced by AI innovators like OpenAI based in the USA or Microsoft with its AI tools.

The AI landscape is not limited to the USA, as Germany also plays a significant role, with its strong focus on information technology and research in artificial intelligence. For instance, German users can now utilize "NotebookLM" in their native language, further expanding its international reach.

Google's AI-driven app is making waves in the industry with its capabilities, even being compared to well-known AI-powered applications like ChatGPT from OpenAI and Copilot from Microsoft. However, its unique selling point is its self-contained nature, relying solely on user-provided data for training and avoiding internet dependency for additional information.

The impact of the internet on AI is undeniable, and companies like Google and Microsoft are at the forefront of this revolution, continuously updating and enhancing their AI tools to cater to user needs. "NotebookLM" is a prime example of this, as it now supports various file types, including Google Docs, presentations, and website links.

The global community is closely watching the evolution of AI tools, with the potential for significant advancements in information technology and international collaboration. As companies like Google, OpenAI, and Microsoft continue to innovate, the landscape of AI-driven communication and research is bound to change, potentially reshaping how we interact with digital information globally.
