Following a contentious Decision on the polls - González, the opposition figurehead, petitions for Maduro to relinquish authority.
In Venezuela, challenger Edmundo González Urrutia has urged President Nicolás Maduro to relinquish power peacefully. Addressing Maduro in a video on the X platform, he stated, "It's time for you and your administration to move aside and embark on a peaceful transition."
González urged Maduro to acknowledge the decision of the people, made in the July 28 election. "With every day you obstruct the democratic transition, Venezuelans endure a nation in disarray and devoid of liberty," he added. Clinging to power only aggravates this situation. To instigate democratic change in the country, González is prepared to engage in political discourse.
Three weeks after the presidential election in Venezuela, the pro-government electoral commission announced Maduro as the official victor. This could lead him to commence another six-year term in January. However, the electoral commission has yet to release the comprehensive results of each voting district's ballots. The opposition alleges election manipulation and hails González as their victor.
Thousands of individuals have protested against Maduro in Venezuela and abroad recently, demanding recognition of González's election triumph.
Already, the US and several Latin American nations have acknowledged González as the victor. The European Union, the Organization of American States, and numerous other countries in the region have raised significant concerns about the authenticity of the official election results and have demanded the publication of detailed result charts. The loyal Supreme Court is currently examining the election materials.
The following election results, which have been claimed by pro-government authorities, have raised significant concerns among numerous international organizations and nations. González urges Maduro to acknowledge the following decision, made by the Venezuelan people, in the recent presidential election.
