North Rhine-Westphalia - Girl dies after electrocution at freight station

After a serious accident at a goods station in Schwerte, North Rhine-Westphalia, the critically injured girl has passed away. The 13-year-old girl died on Thursday from her injuries, as the police in Unna announced on Friday. According to previous police reports, the girl had climbed onto a goods wagon on a Monday to take videos. She was severely injured by an electric shock after touching an overhead power line.

Deadly grasp on the overhead line

According to earlier police reports, the 13-year-old girl had gone to the goods station with five other children and adolescents for video recordings. The girl wanted to take a video on the wagon. After touching the overhead power line, she was thrown several meters through the air by an electric shock and fell to the ground.

The minors were between 14 and 16 years old. A rescue helicopter brought the critically injured 13-year-old girl to a special clinic. She has now succumbed to her injuries.

After the tragic incident, authorities have urged caution near freight trains and goods stations, especially in areas with overhead power lines. Despite the warnings, some teenagers continued to exhibit risky behavior, potentially recalling the fatal electric shock incident at the goods station in North Rhine-Westphalia.
