With a high temperature of 36.5 degrees, today has been the hottest day of the year so far, according to provisional data from the German Weather Service (DWD). This value was measured at 2:50 PM in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate, surpassing the previous record of 35.7 degrees measured there on Monday.

It was particularly hot in Baden-Württemberg as well. Measurements in Waghäusel-Kirrlach showed 36.3 degrees. In Andernach, Rhineland-Palatinate, the DWD registered 36.2 degrees provisionally. The same value was registered in Ennigerloh-Ostenfelde, North Rhine-Westphalia, according to the spokesperson. The 36-degree mark was also broken in Bavaria, with 36.1 degrees measured in Kitzingen.

According to forecasts, the west and northwest will see shower-like precipitation and strong thunderstorms from Tuesday night onwards, spreading eastward throughout the day. There is an increased risk of severe weather, including heavy rain, hail, and isolated strong gusts. Only the east and northeast will remain mostly dry. Temperatures will range from 29 to 34 degrees, with slightly lower values in the west and northwest.

On Wednesday, the storms will subside, but there may be more thunderstorms from the south to the Lusatia region. The west will have a pleasant mix of sun and clouds. Thursday will be changeable in the north and west with showers and temperatures of 21 to 26 degrees. In the south and east, there may be isolated thunderstorms, but the risk of severe weather will decrease. Temperatures will reach summer-like levels of 26 to 31 degrees.

The current heatwave continues to break records, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees in multiple regions such as Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Bavaria, reflecting the overall warm weather condition. Despite the forecast of shower-like precipitation and strong thunderstorms, the temperatures are expected to remain high, ranging from 29 to 34 degrees.
