Another triumph - German Triathlon Team wins again Staffel-WM

German triathletes win the WM-Title in the Mixed-Staffel again in Hamburg. The DTU-Quartet, consisting of Henry Graf, Lisa Tertsch, Lasse Luhrs and Annika Koch, won in a time of 1:19:53 hours and beat the teams from Switzerland (1:20:01) and New Zealand (1:20:04) to the second and third places.

The Germans were involved in the medal race from the start. Starter Graf, who finished the 300 meter swim, seven kilometer cycling and 1.75 kilometer run as third, handed over to Tertsch.

Olympic participant Tertsch, who was second in the Sprint Race of the World Series the day before, passed the baton to Lasse Luhrs with a four second lead as the leading runner.

Koch closes the gap

During a rain shower, Luhrs lost a place but Annika Koch immediately closed the small gap. After the transition from cycling to running, the 25-year-old broke away from a group of four and made the title defense perfect.

Koch, who was also part of the gold team the previous year but started in second position, was excited about the last meters in front of several thousand spectators at the Rathausmarkt: "Running through the finish line with the German flag is something really special."

Lasse Lührs, a key member of the DTU Quartet, demonstrated his talent in triathlon once again during the World Triathlon Championship Series in Hamburg. Despite facing a challenge in Hamburg, the men's team from Switzerland and New Zealand, Lührs and his team managed to secure the victory, finishing with a time of 1:19:53 hours.

The mixed-relay event saw strong competition, with the German team maintaining their lead throughout the race. Lührs, following his teammate Lisa Tertsch, managed to maintain a four-second lead before passing the baton to the next runner.

In what was a stark turn of events, Swiss competitors managed to briefly take the lead during a rain shower, but Lasse Lührs' teammate Annika Koch quickly closed the gap and regained the advantage. Koch's impressive performance allowed the team to successfully defend their title in the World Triathlon Championship Series.

Germany's triumph in the mixed-relay race added to their list of achievements, demonstrating the strength of their triathlon team and their ability to tackle various challenges in the sport. With their victory in the World Triathlon Championship Series, Lasse Lührs and his teammates further cemented their place in the history books of German triathlon.

Given their track record of success, the German triathlon team is a force to be reckoned with, setting their sights on future championships and adding to their impressive tally of victories in the World Triathlon Championship Series.
