German Railways encourages against venturing to southern Germany because of floods.

Due to the flooding in certain regions of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, the German Railways are advising against traveling to Southern Germany. The disruptions are mainly affecting Munich, and the railway system has reported that you cannot reach it from Stuttgart, Würzburg, and Nuremberg. These restrictions are set to last into Monday.

Some of the affected routes include: Munich-Nuremberg-Erfurt-Berlin, Karlsruhe-Stuttgart-Ulm-Augsburg-Munich, Stuttgart-Mannheim-Frankfurt(M), Munich-Lindau-Bregenz-Zurich, Karlsruhe-Stuttgart-Crailsheim-Nuremberg, and Augsburg-Kempten (Allgäu)-Oberstdorf. There are even train delays between Nuremberg and Würzburg.

In regards to tickets purchased for travel on these routes between Sunday and Monday, the binding to the original route has been canceled. However, your ticket will remain valid for travel to your destination using a different route. All other train connections are still expected to be quite crowded.

On Monday morning, the areas of Rems-Murr and Ostalb east of Stuttgart were in dire need of assistance. After continuous rain over several days, rivers and streams have reached their maximum capacity causing many parts of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria to flood. Thousands of people have evacuated their homes, and the water level in the Danube is continuously rising. Over 40,000 volunteers are providing aid in the affected areas. The German Weather Service has also predicted thunderstorms and heavy rain at the beginning of the week.
