German mountaineer dies in the Swiss Alps
A group of eight people, including a 45-year-old German woman, climbed the Lagginhorn mountain in Switzerland. During their descent, two women fell suddenly and repeatedly into the depths, shortly after each other, on the mountain's western ridge.
According to the police in the canton of Valais, the German woman tragically died in the Swiss Alps. The woman had ascended the over 4000-meter-high Lagginhorn with an eight-person group. While descending on the mountain's western ridge, two women fell suddenly and repeatedly into the same spot, several hundred meters deep.
The rescue services dispatched two helicopters to the scene immediately. Unfortunately, the rescue team could only confirm the death of one woman. The second woman was seriously injured and received medical treatment at the scene before being flown to a clinic in Bern.
According to the reports, the deceased woman was a 45-year-old German. The injured woman is a 61-year-old German. The public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation in cooperation with the local police. The Bergsteiger-Gruppe was not reportedly anchored at the time of the accident.

The collision with the rock formations resulted in fatal head injuries. A summoned doctor could only confirm the man's death.
The group had planned an international hiking trip, with stops in both Switzerland and Austria, showcasing the stunning Alps. Following their hike in Switzerland, they hoped to explore the Austrian Alps next.
