Fire on pool - Gartenpool on Fire - Fire Department Intervention

A burning garden pool in Detmold triggered a fire department response. A fire department spokesperson reported that gasoline was on fire on the water surface. A photo shows a high flame right in the middle of the pool. According to a resident's statements, sparks occurred while handling a motorized garden tool, which ignited a nearby gas canister.

"The residents attempted to extinguish the fire by throwing the burning canister into a garden pool with a shovel," the fire department statement read. The extinguishing attempt failed, as the gasoline continued to burn on the water. However, when the first emergency responders arrived, the fire had already gone out.

The Fire Department added: "We would like to point out in this context that liquid fuels should not be extinguished with water, as this can fuel the fire. In such cases, the fire department should be called immediately." This rule applies, for example, when cooking oil catches fire in a pan.
