Fire department response - Garage fire possibly triggered from a wheelchair
A garage fire in Deudesfeld (Vulkaneifel district) is likely to have been caused by an electric wheelchair. The garage owner reported the fire on Saturday night just before midnight. The fire department was able to bring the fire under control, as the police reported. No one was injured.
According to initial investigations, the police assume that the fire originated from an electric wheelchair that was parked in the garage, which the owner had connected to the power grid for charging in the evening. The damage is estimated to be between 25,000 and 30,000 Euros.
The fire incident took place in the district of Vulkaneifel, specifically in Deudesfeld. The Fire department dispatch in Rhineland-Palatinate received the emergency call about the garage fire. Despite the electric wheelchair being the suspected cause, the Fire department successfully extinguished the blaze.
