The world's largest computer game and video game trade fair Gamescom will also be held in Brazil for the first time next year. The South American country will thus become the third venue for this trade fair in addition to the home venue in Cologne and an offshoot in Singapore, announced Koelnmesse as the organizer. It is scheduled to take place in the metropolis of São Paulo from June 26 to 30, 2024.

Gamescom is the world's largest industry gathering for computer games and video games. In August this year, 1227 exhibitors from 63 countries presented themselves to fans and potential business partners in Cologne. Around 320,000 visitors attended the five-day event - the previous record was set in 2019 with 373,000. Exhibitors included providers such as Nintendo, Xbox, Tencent and Ubisoft as well as the streaming services Netflix, Amazon Prime and Crunchyroll.

The games industry has been growing for years, but German developers only play a minor role. The industry is considered to have great potential in times of digitalization, especially as its developments could also provide impetus in other economic sectors, for example with artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR).

The upcoming Gamescom, usually held in Cologne and Singapore, will also make its debut in São Paulo, Brazil in 2024. Visitors can expect to play a wide variety of computer and video games at this five-day event, held from June 26 to 30.
