disturbed signal - Further restrictions in rail traffic around Cottbus
In rail traffic around Cottbus, there are expected to be issues continuing until Sunday, according to Deutsche Bahn. A railway spokesperson stated that on Monday, train traffic at Cottbus Hauptbahnhof was briefly halted due to damage to important cable installations during construction work. These cables are crucial for setting signals and switches. There were also restrictions in train traffic following this incident.
Problems with material delivery
"Unfortunately, the delivery of certain components for the complete restoration of the signaling and switch technology is being delayed, which means that train traffic cannot be fully resumed before Sunday afternoon," explained a railway spokesperson. "The current bus replacement service will therefore continue. Deutsche Bahn apologizes to all passengers."
On Wednesday, Deutsche Bahn had announced that the work would likely be completed and train service resumed on the disrupted lines by Thursday afternoon.
Trains between Cottbus and Guben still not in operation
However, trains on lines RE10 and RB43 between Cottbus and Guben, as well as RE13 between Cottbus and Senftenberg, are still not in operation. In contrast, trains on lines RE2 to Berlin/Nauen and RB43 to Falkenberg (Elster) are reportedly already largely back on schedule following the cable damage on Monday.
In Berlin, passengers using German Railways may experience changes in their transport traffic due to the ongoing issues in Cottbus. The restriction in railway traffic around Cottbus is expected to last until Sunday, affecting services beyond the region. Additionally, the damage to cable installations during construction work in Cottbus Hauptbahnhof on Monday has resulted in continued restrictions in traffic between Cottbus and nearby cities, such as Guben and Senfenberg.
