Further charges against the president's son: when the election campaign moves to the courtroom

Hunter Biden, the son of the US president, has spent a lot of money on women and drugs. And squandered the rest. Above all, however, he has not paid taxes, which is why he has now been charged. His father doesn't need that in his election campaign.

Hunter Biden - Further charges against the president's son: when the election campaign moves to the courtroom

The upcoming presidential election campaign in the USA could take place to no small extent in the courtroom. In several, to be precise, as two of the parties involved have legal problems: Donald Trump and the son of the incumbent president, Hunter Biden. The latter may not be running for office, but his father's opponents are naturally delighted with any of his escapades - they can be used to good effect in the election campaign. And there are plenty of them, as has now emerged from an indictment brought against Biden junior in Los Angeles.

Almost 400,000 dollars for various women

The public prosecutor's office writes that the 53-year-old chose not to pay taxes, but instead spent his millions on an "extravagant lifestyle". Investigators have meticulously compiled where all his money went: 383,548 dollars for payments to "various women", 100,330 dollars for "adult entertainment", 772,548 dollars in cash withdrawals from ATMs, 151,459 dollars for clothing and accessories - in 2018 alone.

He also reported "business expenses", such as 10,000 dollars for a membership in a sex club, payments to strippers, plane tickets for an "exotic dancer" or the rental of a Lamborghini. Also countless overnight stays in expensive hotels.

The indictment covers the years 2016 to mid-October 2020 - i.e. until shortly before Joe Biden's election as president. According to the 56-page document, Hunter Biden booked more than seven million US dollars in income during this period. Among other things, the money came from a lucrative position at the Ukrainian gas company Burisma at a time when Biden's father was in charge of Ukraine as Vice President. Other income came from opaque foreign transactions and payments from a "personal friend" amounting to 1.2 million dollars over several months in 2020.

Hunter Biden on his time as an alcoholic

The open tax matter is already Hunter Biden's second major legal construction site: In September, he was indicted in the state of Delaware. There he is accused of making false statements when buying a gun and knowingly concealing his drug addiction - a violation of gun law. The lawsuit is based on Biden's memoirs, in which he recounts his past as an alcoholic and junkie impressively and with astonishing candor.

For his father, the charges mean above all uncomfortable questions and negative headlines. Hunter Biden's involvement with the Burisma gas company during Joe Biden's vice presidency has brought the Republicans in the House of Representatives onto the scene. They are currently investigating the possibility of impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden. Although the project has no chance of success as things stand at present, it could still prove troublesome for the Democrat in the election year.

Biden is behind Donald Trump in the polls

The fact that the son of a sitting president is being charged is unusual, if not unprecedented. The fact that further juicy details are coming to light that go beyond the revelations in the memoirs is an additional burden for Joe Biden in the election campaign. Also because the Democrat likes to present himself as an example of integrity and decency.

The election campaign for Father Biden is already not under a good star. The US President is already 81 and makes a corresponding impression at many appearances. Even in his own party, the Democrats, there is a lot of grumbling about his renewed candidacy. Although Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican candidate, is only marginally younger, he appears much more agile. Although Joe Biden claims that he is the only one who can beat Trump in the election , he is now well behind the Republican in the polls. He doesn't need bad press, even if Trump has also been indicted several times and has to spend parts of the election campaign in court.

The legal issues facing President Trump and his son Hunter Biden might significantly influence the upcoming US election campaign. Hunter Biden, despite not running for office, has become a subject of interest due to his alleged financial misconduct, as detailed in an indictment filed in Los Angeles. The indictment mentions expenditures such as payments to multiple women, expenses on adult entertainment, and extravagant purchases, including a Lamborghini.

The charges against Hunter Biden in Delaware, involving false statements and concealing a drug addiction, further complicate Joe Biden's election campaign. The Republicans are currently investigating Joe Biden's association with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma during his vice presidency, which could potentially lead to impeachment proceedings.

Despite these challenges, Joe Biden continues to assert that he is the only candidate capable of beating Donald Trump. However, Biden trails behind Trump in the polls, and the negative publicity is not helping his election prospects.

Donald Trump, despite also facing legal issues and court appearances, is perceived as more agile by many, which could impact his election performance. The Democrats have expressed displeasure towards Joe Biden's renewed candidacy due to his age, which is expected to be a significant factor in the election.

Hunter Biden's involvement with Burisma and the ensuing investigations have added another layer of complexity to the US election campaign, with each party trying to capitalize on the situation for political gain.

The election campaign is becoming increasingly unpredictable as more information emerges about the financial and legal issues involving the key figures in the US political landscape.
