Freeway - Full closure of the A4 near Bensberg on two weekends
On the heavily trafficked A4, the section between Bergisch Gladbach-Bensberg and Overath-Untereschbach will be completely closed at two weekends. In this section of the highway, the Autobahn will be blocked starting at 10:00 PM on this Friday, and the closure will last until Monday morning at 5:00 AM. The following weekend, motorists will have to divert to detour routes again, as announced by the Rhineland branch of the Autobahn GmbH, from 10:00 PM on Friday, July 19, to Monday morning at 5:00 AM.
The detour for the section in the direction of Olpe starts from Cologne via the A3 and B484 to the Overath interchange. Traffic coming from Olpe with the destination Cologne and western NRW will be redirected at the Bielstein interchange. Local traffic will be redirected from the interchanges Bensberg and Untereschbach. Traffic jams and full streets are expected on the Autobahn and in the surrounding road network on local and county roads. Trips that are not essential should be avoided as much as possible.
The Autobahn GmbH is completing the construction of a scaffold to support the Untereschbach bridge structure before the construction of temporary bridges begins, which is scheduled to begin after 2025, followed by the construction of a new bridge. During the two closure weekends, work such as asphalt repairs will also be carried out.
