A gang of four fugitives from Lower Bavaria have been on the lam since Saturday night. The investigation by the Criminal Police (CID) is in high gear, with a spokesperson confirming. A widespread search for the culprits is ongoing. The authorities are seeking public assistance, with tips pouring in from various parts of Germany. Each tip is being scrutinized.

The prosecutor's office and CID are probing incidents of alleged hostage-taking and grievous bodily harm. It's reported that the men had threatened, assaulted, and held a staff member of the Straubing district hospital (DH) hostage on Saturday night with a view to forcing the main gate open.
The ruffians, aged 27, 28, and 31, are considered dangerous. They were in the DH's forensic psychiatry for property and drug offences. As per a district spokesperson, three of the men had been known figures prior to their escape. Their treatment might have been suspended.
