- Fugitive Apprehended - Three Individuals Remain at Large
Law enforcement officers nabbed a fugitive convict in Austria. Austrian authorities taken him into custody on a Thursday evening in Styria, according to police updates.
The man gave himself up without a fight and is now being kept at an Austrian jail, police confirmed. The prosecutor's office in Regensburg has requested his transfer back to Germany.
The 28-year-old was one of four inmates who broke out from the district hospital in Straubing on August 17.
A European warrant for arrest is still active for the other three men. Police receive tips from civilians daily, which they are examining.
The prosecutor's office and criminal police are probing the four individuals for suspected kidnapping and causing severe bodily harm. They are detained at the BKH due to property damage and drug-related charges, and are deemed dangerous.
Citizens are advised against picking up hitchhikers and avoiding suspicious individuals. Instead, they should dial the emergency number 110.
