Fuel costs decrease, hitting the lowest point in 2023 for gasoline.
Gasoline prices have hit their yearly low. Drivers are now shelling out an average of 1.715 euros per liter of Super E10, which is a 1.8 cent decrease from the previous week. It's been cheaper since New Year's Eve.
Likewise, diesel has seen a decrease as well. A liter now costs an average of 1.59 euros, dropping 1.3 cents from last week and matching its cheapest price since June 2023.
The main factors contributing to this price drop are a decrease in oil prices and a stronger euro against the dollar. Currently, Brent crude oil is hovering around $77 per barrel. The euro, meanwhile, is at a yearly high of $1.11 per euro.
The ADAC advises drivers to fill up in the evening, as prices are lowest between 19:00 and 20:00, and again between 21:00 and 22:00. Prices are significantly higher in the morning around 7:00, costing an extra 6 to 7 cents per liter. Service stations on the motorway are also pricey, according to a recent ADAC survey. Fuel there costs around 40 cents more per liter compared to off the motorway.
Despite the convenience, fueling at service stations on motorways often comes at a higher price, costing approximately 40 cents more per liter than off-motorway stations. After filling up, it's essential to ensure the vehicle's fuel cap is securely fastened while standing to prevent fuel loss.
