Fritzbox now has an app setup option.
An update introduces a setup wizard for Fritzboxes in the MyFritz app. This will simplify the configuration of AVM routers even more, making it more accessible for novices.
A lot of German homes already have a Fritzbox, and it's likely that the next one will be from Berlin-based AVM. Other users might be newcomers who are either purchasing or are about to purchase their first Fritzbox. For all of them, the process of setting up their new device will become simpler with a new version of the MyFritz app.
The reason for this is a new setup wizard, included in the update for the application, usable on Android and iOS devices. To start it, simply scan a QR code using the device that has MyFritz installed. Then, the application will lead users through the setup process on their smartphones or tablets, ensuring each setting is made correctly. AVM claims the setup should be not only more user-friendly but also more reliable.
Four Fritzboxes are leading the way, more to come
Currently, the new setup wizard of MyFritz app works with all Fritzboxes that use DSL and fiber optic connections and have at least FritzOS 7.80 installed. This applies to four popular models: FritzBox 5590 Fiber (fiber optic), FritzBox 5530 Fiber (fiber optic), FritzBox 7590 AX (DSL), and FritzBox 7530 AX (DSL).
More models are expected to join in the coming months. These could possibly include the Fritzbox 6660 Cable, Fritzbox 6690 Cable, Fritzbox 6591 Cable, and Fritzbox 7590 (DSL). Since FritzOS 7.90 is available as a laboratory version (pre-release software) for these routers, their descriptions mention the features of FritzOS 7.80 as well.
