Free to the cinema - Free entry on October 3rd at Filmfest Hamburg
At this year's Film Festival Hamburg, some admission tickets will be given away for free: On October 3rd, there will be free entry to all films in the five festival cinemas, as announced in Hamburg. The Film Festival Hamburg wants to use this action to further anchor itself in the city's society. The target group are people who are not yet familiar with the festival and seldom or never go to the cinema. The nine "Film Festival around the Corner" cinemas also want to show a film for free on that day. The Senate for Culture and Media has provided around 100,000 Euro for this action.
Last year, almost 46,000 people visited the Film Festival Hamburg. Among the celebrities on the red carpet were the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, as well as German actresses and actors Sandra Hüller, Jens Harzer, Bjarne Mädel, Barbara Auer, and Heinz Strunk.
The ten-day Festival starts on September 26th for its 32nd edition - this time under new management. Festival director is now Malika Rabahallah. Her predecessor Albert Wiederspiel had led the Film Festival Hamburg for 21 years prior. During the Festival, new films from all over the world will be shown, including often award-winning works and many German, European, and world premieres. The program will be announced in September.
