France confronts political turbulence: Macron seeks dialogue with Hollande and Sarkozy

Amidst France's prolonged political standstill, President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to interact with his previous office holders, namely François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy, on the 24th of this month. According to France Info and BFMTV's insider sources, Macron is also planning to engage with former Socialist Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, who served under Hollande from December 2016 until May 2017 and is said to be considering re-entering the race for the position.

More than a six-week hiatus has passed since the early parliamentary elections in France, yet Macron has not announced a new Prime Minister or managed to establish a functional majority government.

In these elections, the unexpected left-wing coalition Nouveau Front Populaire secured the top spot, surpassing Macron's centrist party and Marine Le Pen's far-right supporters, who were initially expected to emerge victorious. None of these factions managed to obtain a clear-cut majority.

The left-wing coalition has consistently maintained its stance on forming a government. Nevertheless, Macron has dismissed the idea of a single-party administration, arguing that it would be swiftly challenged with a vote of no-confidence. Despite multiple meetings with the parties, the path to a stable French government remains uncertain. Coalitions are fairly rare in the nation, making the formation process even more difficult.

Despite the coalition's resolve to form a government in France, Macron's centrist party has struggled to find common ground, potentially affecting the country's political landscape in France. The unexpected success of the Nouveau Front Populaire in France could lead to a significant shift in the country's political dynamics, given France's historical emphasis on its traditional right-wing and left-wing parties.
