Four Syrian siblings detained following stabbing incident against an educator.

A month following the stabbing incident at an adult education center in Wedel, close to Hamburg, four individuals suspected to be brothers have been detained. The Itzehoe District Court issued arrest warrants for the 15, 19, and two 21-year-old males on Wednesday, accusing them of attempted murder and causing serious bodily harm. They had been earlier held by the homicide unit.

These brothers had initially been taken into custody right after the July 22nd incident but were later released as the evidence was not substantial enough for an arrest warrant. Nevertheless, extensive investigations have now resulted in a strong presumption of guilt, as per the police. The possibility of premeditation is being considered as a contributing factor to the severity of the charges. Unfortunately, the four Syrian defendants remained silent during their court appearance.

The 67-year-old music teacher from Tornesch (Circles Pinneberg) suffered severe injuries from stab wounds on the parking lot of the adult education center in Wedel. At the time, he was in critical condition, as confirmed by a police spokeswoman in July. The police remained tight-lipped about the motive behind the attack or the connection between the suspects and the victim. After the incident, they deployed numerous officers and even requested assistance from a helicopter belonging to the Hamburg police for the search operations.

Wedel is situated in the Schleswig-Holstein district of Pinneberg and shares a border with the western part of Hamburg. The adult education center portrays itself as a municipal center for lifelong learning, providing a meeting place for all citizens, companies, institutions, associations, and organizations in the region. According to its website, "The adult education center is a place of lifelong learning, a center for education and encounters for all." It advocates for equal educational opportunities for all.

The investigating authorities announced that "The following shall be added to the charges against the brothers: premeditation," due to the severe nature of the incident. After being detained again, the brothers were advised that "Should they choose to speak during future court proceedings, it may significantly impact their case."
