In a blaze at a dwelling in Vorpommern-Rügen area, four individuals experienced serious injuries, including two lads of 3 and 13 years old. Preliminary assessments suggest around 500,000 euros in property damage, as per police reports.

The abode in Süderholz housed a 95-year-old gentleman and his 43-year-old grandson along with their kin. An incident occurred in the evening, apparently with a man using a fuel canister for heat. The ensuing blast ignited a fire that swiftly engulfed the residence, with the two youngsters also present.

Fuel canister might be responsible for explosion

The 43-year-old was outside at the moment of the blast and saved his boys by using a ladder. All three endured smoke inhalation. The 95-year-old was freed from the dwelling by firefighters and additionally suffered smoke inhalation and an arm wound. The 13-year-old was helicoptered to the medical facility.

Approximately 100 volunteer firefighters stepped in. The structure is currently uninhabitable.

The police are investigating the possibility of a fuel canister being responsible for the explosion. Due to the incident, the local police have increased patrols in the area to ensure public safety.
