A group of four teachers from an American university were hurt in a park in Jilin, China, during daytime. Cornell College, located in Iowa, acknowledged that their teachers were hurt in a public area of this northeastern Chinese city. President Jonathan Brand expressed that the college is in touch with the injured professors and is there for them during this period.

At a briefing in Beijing, China's Foreign Ministry mentioned the preliminary police investigation findings but did not reveal the suspect. On Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian shared, "The police are still investigating the case." According to their report, the incident occurred on Monday morning (local time). Lin Jian also confirmed that all the injured individuals had been taken to hospitals and their lives were not at risk.

Reports indicate that the victims were stabbed in Beishan Park. The attacker's identification and the reason for the assault initially remained unknown. When inquired about the incident by news reporters, a U.S. State Department spokesman acknowledged knowledge of the story and was following the situation.

The Jilin police could not be reached for comment. In China's social media platforms, images of the injured professors laying on the ground with blood on them were seen temporarily. However, numerous related posts on Weibo, China's parallel to Twitter, vanished shortly after the incident. China's state media made no mention of the attack by Tuesday morning (local time).

Four professors teaching at the American school were part of a collaboration with Beihua University in Jilin. While the incident took place, a faculty member from the partner institution was also nearby. It was confirmed that students were not present at the time of the attack.
