- Flooding in parts of Bruchsals - Warning to the population
In Bruchsal, a district of Karlsruhe, the old town of the Heidelsheim neighborhood has been flooded due to initially rising water levels. The fire department reported that the water reached up to 1.50 meters at its peak. According to the flood center, the river Saalbach reached its highest level of over 2.13 meters at the Bruchsal gauge around 2:30 AM, just above the 100-year flood mark of 2.10 meters.
"The warning app Nina advised residents to evacuate basements and ground floors in certain areas and to seek higher floors," the fire department reported. Two civilians were reportedly injured, but the severity of their injuries was initially unclear. The water in Heidelsheim is now receding.
Flooding also occurred in the main city of Bruchsal, affecting underpasses, among other areas. The fire department reports that water levels are already decreasing in these areas. According to the city, the entire Bruchsal train station area is closed and is expected to remain closed until the morning. Train services between Gondelsheim and Bruchsal have been suspended as a result.
The local authorities in Bruchsal, Germany, have issued a warning for residents to be prepared, as the flood situation might worsen in some areas due to heavy rainfall. Despite the flooding in Germany, several relief efforts are being organized by various organizations and local communities.
