Flixtrain offers more combined tickets with regional transport companies

From December 10, the rail company Flixtrain will be offering more combined tickets with regional transport companies. As of the timetable change, travel on local transport to the Flixtrain's departure station can be booked directly via the private long-distance train provider in a total of 31 cities, as the Munich-based company announced on Tuesday. To date, this service is only available in five cities.

For example, if a traveler currently wants to travel from Braunschweig to Hanover and then on to North Rhine-Westphalia on the Flixtrain, they currently need two tickets. One for local travel and one for long-distance travel.

From December 10, they can now book a single ticket via the Flixtrain channels, which is generally cheaper according to the provider. There is no train connection for regional services. Passengers are also entitled to a partial refund in the event of delays and can continue their journey on another train if a connection cannot be reached.

The cooperation runs via Deutschlandtarifverbund GmbH, which brings together many railroad companies and public transport authorities. According to the company, from next week the Flixtrain network will be extended to a total of 80 stations that can be reached with the combined tickets. This includes the regional route from Lübeck to Hamburg and from Jena to Erfurt.

Starting December 10, travelers from cities like Braunschweig can purchase combi-tickets for seamless travel to Flixtrain departure stations, as more regional transport companies are partnering with Flixtrain. With this new service, travelers can book both local and long-distance tickets in a single transaction on Flixtrain channels, often at a lower cost.

As part of the cooperation with Deutschlandtarifverbund GmbH, which brings together various railroad companies and public transport authorities, the Flixtrain network will expand to include 80 stations across Germany, allowing travelers to purchase combi-tickets for regional routes from cities such as Lübeck to Hamburg and Jena to Erfurt.
