Adel - First mailbox with monogram of King Charles revealed
For the first time, the monogram of King Charles III appears on one of the famous red post boxes in Great Britain. Pupils and students of a primary school in the town of Great Cambourne near Cambridge threw handwritten letters to the Monarch during the inauguration.
The monogram consists of the letters "C" for Charles and "R" for Rex, the Latin word for King, as well as the Roman numeral "III". Above it, a Tudor Crown is enthroned.
Although Charles has been British King since his mother Queen Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, the "red letter boxes" still bear the monogram of the long-reigning monarch. New post boxes have already been installed, but prepared examples with Elizabeth's monogram "E II R" were used to prevent waste.
New Crown in Logo
The Royal Mail also changes its logo in honor of the King. The symbol with the yellow, double-lined script shows the round Tudor Crown of the King instead of the crowned St. Edward's Crown, which the late Queen used. Thousands of Royal Mail vehicles will replace the Monogram of the Mother with that of the King.
An exception is Scotland: Since 1955, the Royal Mail has only used the St. Andrew's Crown in Scotland.
